Analytics & insights
Monthly, quarterly, and yearly views of where your money went, plus honest illustrations of what it could have grown to.
What it does
- Show monthly and yearly spend by category, payment type, and top recipients
- Aggregate transaction fees (category 606) as a separate line — they're real money
- Show a monthly trend line with visible data points
- Include a Savings Rate insight card (this-month + 3-month rolling)
- Show an Income vs Spend overlay chart over the last 12 months
- Surface Monthly / Quarterly / Year-in-Review summaries with an investment illustration
What it doesn't do
- Recommend specific stocks, funds, brokers, or guaranteed returns
- Show projections without listing the assumptions (rate, horizon, base period)
- Bury transaction fees inside discretionary totals
Investment illustration — what the math actually says
The Monthly Review’s “What your savings could become” card takes the amount you actually invested (or your headroom, if you didn’t) and shows what a single deposit at 10% annual return, compounded monthly, over 5 years would grow to. The assumption line is always visible — no hidden rate, no implied “per month” contribution.
If you didn’t save anything that month, the illustration doesn’t show. We don’t pretend numbers exist that don’t.
